COVID-19 Virus Update – [UPDATED May 18]

May 18 2020

Club activities have now resumed under Level 2. Members must adhere to the club protocols set as per below, approved by the GWRC.

Kapiti Aeromodellers Club COVID Protocol

  • Contact Tracing
Members need to register their visit to the club, noting the date, and time in and time out.
A registration form is in the clubhouse, use your own pen.
You must register even if you are the only one there.
  • Use of Clubhouse
Given the size of the clubhouse and social distancing rules, the clubhouse is not to be used for gatherings.
So, a one in one out policy will apply.
  • Numbers at the Field
Under Level 2 GWRC requirements, a maximum number of 10 people can congregate.
As it is not practical to run a roster, members need to manage this number themselves.
Use the camera to identify how busy the field is before venturing down.
If it becomes a problem, we will identify and look at things such as morning/afternoon slots.
  • Visitors
No visitors are allowed at the strip at this time.
  • Sanitising of touch surfaces
Gate locks and retainers are touch surfaces which are to be sanitised.
The lock is usually only used at the beginning and end of the day, but the gate is continuously opened and closed.
Any member coming to the strip needs to carry their own sanitiser and wipe surfaces and hands appropriately.
There is sanitiser available in the clubhouse if needed.
  • Toilet
Material is available in the toilet to wipe down surfaces before/after use.
  • Sharing of equipment
Equipment not to be shared by members.
  • Social distancing
The rules around social distancing to be observed at all times.
Pilot Box – We do allow for 5 in the air at once and have 5 bays. The bays are fairly wide, but whilst we are operating under Level 2, this will change to 3 at a time and the 2 end and the middle bay to be used.
Observers – When an observer is being used, the observer needs to be at the appropriate distance.
